environmental policy
jnf architecture recognises that we have a responsibility to the environment beyond legal regulatory requirements. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance as an integral part of our business strategy and operation. We endeavour to encourage customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to do the same.
Mission Statement

jnf architecture recognises its responsibility to the environment beyond minimum legal and regulatory requirements. We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our activities and to continually improving our environmental performance in a manner that is appropriate to the scale and nature of our practice.

Environmental considerations form an integral part of our business strategy and day-to-day operations and are reviewed regularly. Where appropriate, we will encourage clients, suppliers and other stakeholders to support environmentally responsible practices.

Design and Professional Services

We recognise that the environmental impact of the buildings and spaces we help to design is significantly greater than that of our own office operations. Accordingly, we are committed to exercising our professional skills in a manner that seeks to minimise environmental impact, within the scope of our services, our professional role, and client instructions.

Where appropriate and within our influence, we will seek to:
-
Raise client awareness of sustainability and environmental protection and support the design team in developing shared environmental aspirations
-
Encourage, where relevant, the consideration of travel planning measures that promote sustainable travel choices such as public transport and cycling provision
-
Assess site context, including ecological value and microclimate, and encourage design responses that make effective use of natural features such as sun, wind and landscape
-
Explore opportunities for energy efficiency and the potential for renewable or low-carbon energy generation where appropriate
-
Seek to protect and, where practicable, enhance biodiversity, subject to site constraints and planning requirements
-
Encourage design approaches that make effective use of building orientation and form to reduce reliance on artificial heating, cooling and lighting
-
Promote a ‘right-first-time’ approach to design and production information to minimise wasteful site reworking
-
Encourage efficient use of construction materials and the specification of components with an appropriate balance between environmental impact, durability and performance
-
Encourage building services strategies that are efficient, controllable and capable of supporting effective monitoring and management of resource use
-
Encourage appropriate commissioning and handover processes, including the provision of operating information, where these fall within our scope of services
-
Where agreed within our appointment, support clients during initial occupation to help ensure that buildings operate in accordance with the design intent
